David Warner viral reaction to his former team Sunrisers Hyderabad after the thrilling Win
Moments after the victory, David Warner took to social media with an attention-grabbing tweet about his former franchise, SRH, igniting a wildfire of reactions across the internet.
"Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get," famously said Abdul Samad, whose disappointment was palpable as Jos Buttler completed a catch at long-off in the final ball, triggering wild celebrations from the Rajasthan Royals. However, their joy was short-lived as the umpire signal of a no-ball dampened their celebrations.
Samad seized the golden opportunity and smashed it over the bowler head for a six, propelling Sunrisers Hyderabad to a record chase in the IPL in Jaipur. In the aftermath of the exhilarating win, David Warner took to social media with a captivating tweet about his former franchise, SRH, which quickly set the internet ablaze.
The chase orchestrated by SRH was indeed a remarkable feat considering the colossal target of 215 set by Rajasthan Royals on their home ground, coupled with the mixed fortunes the visitors had experienced throughout the season. The pursuit began with the impact sub, Anmolpreet Singh, smashing some powerful shots during the powerplay.
Although his 33 runs off 25 balls came to an end in the penultimate ball of the powerplay, young Abhishek Sharma took up the mantle alongside Rahul Tripathi, forging a crucial 65-run partnership.
Sharma blistering knock of 55 off 34 deliveries, embellished with five boundaries and two sixes, kept SRH in the chase. However, Yuzvendra Chahal prowess in dismantling SRH middle-order posed a formidable challenge. Aiden Markram fell victim to Chahal, departing after a meager 6 runs off 5 balls.
With Chahal exceptional spell of 4 for 29 coming to an end, SRH found themselves at 174 for 5 at the beginning of the penultimate over, requiring 40 runs off the final two overs. Many believed that RR had sealed their victory, which could have propelled them to the third spot in the points table. However, SRH had one last trick up their sleeve.
Glenn Phillips, who had been patiently warming the bench as SRH entrusted Harry Brook with his skills, finally got his chance to shine. In the 19th over, he unleashed a barrage of sixes, hitting three in a row, followed by a boundary, in a scintillating and game-changing cameo.
His explosive innings single-handedly reduced the equation to 17 runs off the last over. Although Phillips departed in the 19th over, Abdul Samad held his nerve to complete the record chase for SRH.
After the match, David Warner took to Twitter to commend his former team and laud Glenn Phillips for his match-winning knock. He wrote, "How good is the IPL! Glenn Phillips, take a bow. Well played, Sunrisers."
